Greg Sowden
After completing an apprenticeship in plumbing, Greg commenced his own real estate agency in 1976 which he subsequently sold in 1980.
In 1983 he was admitted as a barrister with qualifications in the following areas: Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws, Post Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution, Bachelor of Health Science, Graduate Certificate in Health Science, Master of Health Science and most recently, a Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation Case Management.
Greg was a member of the Barristers' Board of Queensland for three years (two of which he was the then Chief Justices nominee to the Board), and a member of the Anti-Discrimination Tribunal for four years and has lectured part-time at QUT in Legal Practice since 1986.
Whilst Greg's legal practice was varied, it mainly concentrated on alternative dispute resolution (mediation), personal injury and defamation cases and criminal law (particularly fraud prosecutions for government agencies).
He and his family have always been interested in charity work and saw the opportunity to put this in action in assisting the Zig Zag Foundation. While there are many good causes in the community that do some fantastic work, Greg could not resist the challenge of being a member of a team that are turning around young lives for the better. It was particularly important to Greg to work with like minded people and the Zig Zag Foundation offered all of this and more.
